Theater performance based on the short movie « The Black Tower » (1987) from John Smith.
Actors : Thibault Hebrard, Ash Martin
One day, on the way to work, our character notices a strange black tower they had never seen before. Some time later, the tower appears again, this time in a different location. Intrigued, they begin to investigate. Curiosity soon turns into obsession, and the tower starts haunting every step of their journey. Consumed by paranoia, they can no longer move through the city without seeing it.
This piece explores our relationship with urban environments, the alienation they can produce, and offers a reflection on isolation and psychosis. It takes place in natural light, across the span of a sunset over the city, and combines projection, drawing, and photography.
The main character, the only figure on stage, is doubled, revealing fragmented person, as he/she was speaking to themselves or shifting between multiple personalities.
